These images are a mix of science and art. Trained in digital image processing for aerial and satellite imagery, with a solid foundation in remote sensing science, I have been exploring traditional and non-traditional applications of image processing algorithms. I have recently (2021) graduated with a Master of Science in Astronomy from SAO: Centre for Astrophysics & Supercomputing within the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Swinburne University of Technology. My goal when doing image processing is to create custom enhancements to best highlight the physical processes associated with natural phenomena. Many images have custom splines, custom linear enhancements and/or edge detection and sharpening algorithms applied. I like to use false colour ramps to help the visualization process. I very much enjoy creating these images. All imagery originals thanks to NASA/ESA/those folks who pre-process imagery for the public. Originals are mostly downloaded from the JPL Photojournal. These images are post processed by Sarah E. Pearce, MSc.
